Mat Dip Disinfection
A key element to any Biosecurity program, disinfection mats and footdips can be used anywhere shoes or boots require disinfection before proceeding
What It Is
- The Disinfection Mat is a cotton towel (double folded) and drenched with ViralFx™ solution to disinfect your boots or shoes before proceeding into a controlled area.
- The Disinfection Mat to be used must be very tough textile material. Another better way is to soak this towel in a plastic tray to hold the solution will be a ideal one.
- Preferred sizes of the Disinfection Mat can be 33 x 33 inches (84 by 84 cm) and is 1.2 inches (3 cm) deep. It will hold approximately 10 litres of disinfectant solution.
- Another mat approximate size18 x 18 inches (45 by 45 cm) and is 1 inch (2.5 cm) deep. It will hold approximately 3 litres of disinfectant solution.
How It Works
When standing on the mat, hydraulic pressure is created causing the disinfectant to rise up around boots and shoes.
How To Use
ViralFx™ can be poured into the mat using a bucket or watering can. The mat is easily washed off, drained and filled as require
Place the mat just outside the controlled area, preferably where there is an overhanging roof, or just inside the building (especially during winter).
The ViralFx™ is the recommended disinfectant and is considered the best virucide, bactericide and fungicide for the job when used at a 1% to 2 % solution. Do not use iodine, chlorine or similar type disinfectants as these may damage the textile.
To clean the mat, hose off the top and hang upside down on a rail to drain. If hung by the comers rather than over a rail, it is important to grab the mat approximately 3" into the mat’s material so that both the outer covering and the inner liner are held firmly. Otherwise, the interior material could fall down inside the mat cover.
Replacing the ViralFx™ disinfectant solution depends on how often the mat is used. Cleaning and refilling can be done every day if used by many people, or left down for several days, depending on use.
